Hagen needs a fresh start – and we are ready!

For too long, we have watched as decisions in the city council and administration failed to fully consider the needs of all citizens – especially overlooking the perspectives of younger generations. With Neustart Hagen, we aim to turn a new page, bringing fresh energy to our city. The future of Hagen will be shaped by new ideas, and we want to create opportunities for everyone to actively contribute!

The response to our initiative has been clear: People in Hagen want change, and they’re ready to participate! We’re providing concrete ways for you to share your ideas and visions for the development of our city.

Engaging younger citizens is a central part of our 10-point plan to strengthen public participation in Hagen and make the city a better place for all generations:

1. Transparent Communication: Regular, clear information on city projects and decisions will build trust and open the door for greater involvement.

2. Low-Barrier Participation Opportunities: Through online forms and mobile access points, we’re creating easy and accessible ways for everyone to share ideas and concerns directly.

3. Quarterly Town Meetings: An open forum every three months provides space to discuss current topics – a place where your opinion matters, and we can work on solutions together.

4. Utilizing Digital Platforms: Online platforms and social media make it simple to stay engaged in city affairs and participate at any time.

5. Working Groups on Key Issues: Interest-based groups will allow citizens to work together on specific projects and actively influence decisions.

6. Targeted Youth Participation Programs: We’re creating formats tailored for young people to share their ideas, whether through youth forums, school projects, or partnerships with local institutions.

7. Establishing a Feedback Culture: Transparency is essential; we’ll provide clear updates on submitted proposals and let you know how and when your ideas will be implemented.

8. Partnership with Local Media: By collaborating with local media, we ensure information about participation opportunities reaches as many people as possible.

9. Offering Training and Workshops: Training programs support those who want to get involved and help you effectively advocate for your ideas.

10. Making Success Visible: We’ll publicly showcase completed projects and positive changes, demonstrating that engagement is worthwhile and strengthening our community spirit.

Our association, Neustart Hagen e.V., is ready to work with citizens of all ages to bring about this change. Membership is free, and anyone who wants to lend a hand is welcome. Together, we’re building a platform that gives everyone a powerful voice – without long processes or unnecessary bureaucracy.
